Strewth, Bruce...

We're in Orrrrstralia!

We landed in Cairns (North-Eastern corner of Australia) a few days ago. Our hiking boots got washed by immigration (as seems to be the fashion in this part of the world - Biosecurity in New Zealand did the same) before we hopped in a taxi to our accommodation at the Travellers Oasis, a very pleasant little hostel roughly in the centre of Cairns.

Cairns itself is nothing special, essentially a tourist town, but we've been here for three days now and it's been nice to have a few nights sleeping in the same bed. The weather here has been amazing since we arrived; about 31 degrees Celcius, blue skies and a bit of humidity.

Tomorrow we move on, to four days of diving on the outer Great Barrier Reef off the Spirit of Freedom livaboard boat . . . should be good.
