Sold! (to the lady next door)

Today we sold Emily's car - this is a great relief to us both.

The $55 advert we had placed in Autotrader was a complete waste of time; no one called after reading the ad. The free advert in Craigslist resulted in a fair few calls, but no buyers. In the end we sold it to our neighbor Drew in apartment 11.

The paperwork is not yet finalized, but should be in a week. I have to send off a cashiers check to VW Finance to pay off the remainder of the loan we had on the car. Then VW Finance will mail me the title of the car, which I will sign over to Drew. Then she can take this to the DMV and pay the 7% sales tax for the car. Then it's all over and done with.

Today we also sold the dining table and chairs. They have gone to a new (student) home somewhere in Los Angeles.

Now we just need to sell my car. I have had one call in response to the adverts I placed for it. An army guy who is moving here from the East coast. He should be getting in touch on Wednesday when he arrives in town.

The other thing that happened today was that we rescheduled our Thailand-Oman flight. The original flight had been cancelled, so we got bumped to the next day. It looked like this meant that we would be in Thailand for longer than is permitted without a visa. So now we're taking this flight a week earlier. This makes no difference to the date we'll be returning to the UK on, but does mean we now get two full weeks in Oman. Which will be good, I think.
