Compulsive

The re-format of the iPod on Saturday worked - iTunes is now playing nicely and I've been getting to grips with how it works, how to create playlists and generally organise things sensibly.

The battery life of the iPod doesn't seem to be the 15 hours as claimed. Maybe it's meant to last 15 hours if you just leave it sat there playing music. I've been tending to click-click through tracks, which coupled with the LCD backlight no doubt drains more power than having it just sat there.

I've been compulsively ripping CDs all week, with my sleep suffering as a result. So far I have 2565 tracks on the iPod. Not many CDs left to rip. But, then I think I'll be going back and re-ripping all the CDs I'd previously ripped to mp3 format.

Sorry to bore you with all that, but it's what I've been up to this week.

Why not take some time out and read about why cubicles are a bad idea, or how Texans with far too much time on their hands have been playing frogger with their robot vacuum cleaners.

So are you ripping to mp3 or into whatever the proprietary ipod format is?

I've been ripping to MPEG-4 Part 14 (aka m4a or mp4) format. That was the default in iTunes, and hopefully something that is widely supported by other players.

I think that the Apple format is AAC.
