Another daddy

Yet another of my University chums became a daddy today. A worrying trend, to say the least.

This time it was Tweed's turn. Apparently the child closely resembles Chairman Mao. We send our congratulations.

You know when you buy one gadget, and that cascades into a purchasing frenzy of related gadgets, things that you previously might not have even known existed? Well, it's happened again. I got an iPod recently. The protective case for it is on order, and today I got an FM transmitter and charger for the car, meaning that I can listen to the iPod on the road. It seemed that there were a few different models available, but in the end I settled on the strangely-named Monster iCarPlay.

The Monster (as it shall be known) will get a good road test later this week. Tomorrow evening we'll be driving 214 miles up to Ridgecrest (Conveniently located on the South side of the China Lake Naval Weapons Center; an area of land about the same size as Luxembourg where the US has developed some of its scarier weapons.) to stay in a sleazy motel (motels have to be sleazy; it's the rule). Thursday morning we'll be getting up bright and early and driving the remaining 179 miles to Mammoth. Emily has loaded up her Nano with BBC podcasts, and I have our CD collection on mine. So if all goes to plan we will have two days of driving and not have to speak a word to each other (I'm kidding, you know that, right?).
